Services and Clinics
In addition to our routine doctor and nurse appointments we also offer the following additional services:
NEW PATIENT HEALTH CHECKS
We offer all new patients a medical as it may take some time before we receive your medical records from your previous doctor and it is important that we have up-to-date information about you and your family. You will be invited to make an appointment at the time of registration.
CHILD IMMUNISATIONS
It is our aim that all children should be fully immunised according to national guidelines against tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough, polio, Hib, mumps, measles and rubella. Appointments are automatically sent out for our clinics which are held every other Wednesday by our practice nursing team. If you have any questions regarding your child's immunisation please direct them to one of our reception team.
INFLUENZA AND PNEUMOCOCCAL CLINICS
The practice fully supports the government's seasonal flu and pneumococcal immunisation programme. Clinics are run between the months of September and January by our nursing team.
All patients aged 65 years and over are eligible for the vaccinations.
Patients aged 6 months to 64 years in the following ‘at risk' groups are also eligible for the vaccination:
- Chronic Respiratory Disease
- Chronic Heart Disease
- Chronic Kidney Disease
- Chronic Liver Disease
- Chronic Neurological Disease
- Diabetes
- Immunosuppression

TRAVEL CLINICS
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to make an appointment with the practice nurse to discuss your travel arrangements.
It is important to make your initial appointment as early as possible, at least six to eight weeks before travelling as a second appointment may be required with the nurse to actually receive the vaccination. The second appointment should be at least two weeks prior to travel to allow the vaccines to work.
You will be required to complete a travel form prior to your appointment. This will include information on which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting in order for us to determine what vaccinations are required. Travel forms are available from our reception.
There may be a fee associated with some vaccinations. The nurse will inform you of any fees during your initial consultation.
CERVICAL SCREENING
The practice fully supports the government's cervical screening programme. It is important that any sexually active woman attends for a cervical screening examination as the incidence of cervical cancer can be significantly reduced by having routine cervical smears. Women aged 25-45 will be invited for examination every three years and women over 45 will be invited every five years.
CONTRACEPTION
The surgery offers both Coil (IUCD) and Nexplanon Implant (formerly Implanon) fitting. Please book an appointment with our nurse Sister Carol Henry to discuss your contraceptive choices. If you decide you would like either a Coil or Implant fitted please talk to one of our receptionists to book an appointment.
DIABETIC CLINIC
A Doctor and Nurse led clinic is held every Wednesday morning for annual reviews of patients with diabetes. The Practice Nurse also completes sixth month patient checks on an appointment basis. An invitation to attend for your diabetic appointment will be sent out automatically.
