Welcome to Bridge Street Medical Practice

"Our patients are our priority"

20 Bridge Street Loughborough Leicestershire LE11 1NQ

Walk-in Centre

The NHS Walk-In Centre is based at Pinfold Gate, Loughborough.

The Walk-In Centre is a nurse led service offering advice and treatment for minor medical problems. The Walk-In Centre is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week. No appointment is necessary, although at busy times you may have to wait to be seen. If the Walk-In Centre nurse is not able to deal with your problem he/she may need to refer you to the surgery for further treatment.

Minor Injuries Unit

The Minor Injuries Unit is based at Pinfold Gate, Loughborough.

The reception area is shared with the Walk In Centre. The Minor Injuries Unit is staffed by trained Emergency Nurse Practitioners. The nurses are able to assess and treat injuries such as cuts, burns, scalds and possible fractures.

They will not treat old injuries, i.e. an injury which occurred more than 48 hours previously. In these cases you will be referred back to the surgery.

The nurse practitioners are authorised to request X-rays. The X-ray facilities at the Walk In Centre are open from 10:00 a.m. until 4:30 p.m., Monday to Fridays. If you require an X-ray outside of these hours you will be referred to the Accident and Emergency department at Leicester Royal Infirmary.

More serious injuries such as deep cuts, severe burns and facial injuries may also need to be referred to Leicester Royal Infirmary.

Out of Hours & Weekends

There is always a doctor available for the treatment of emergencies.

If a problem arises while the surgery is closed and you feel in need of medical advice or urgent treatment, ring 0845 045 0411. A trained advisor will take your details and information about the medical problem and a doctor or nurse will telephone you back.

Alternatively, NHS Direct can offer medical advice via a qualified nurse on 0845 4647 and the Walk-In Centre can assist with minor illness & injury.

If your problem is life-threatening, such as chest pain, severe breathlessness, etc. it may be more appropriate to ring 999 and request an ambulance.
